Welcome to the program at SJSU. I would love to visit Israel sometime. What a huge move - NY to Israel to San Jose!
A lot of people I know have gotten jobs in libraries as a page - where you go to the stacks and get the books for the patrons. Of course, if you can get a library aide or assistant position you can work on the reference desk and help answer questions, which is awesome. The program at SJSU is pretty thorough and does offer a great variety of classes, but I found that doing and internship is one of the best ways to gain hands-on experience. I completed an internship at an Academic library and at Children's Hospital, plus I have four years of library experience, so altogether I feel much more well-rounded.
I'm happy to answer any questions about the program or whatever. Feel free to drop a line whenever.
